our materials and fabrics

We’re continually moving towards more considered fabric choices — favouring natural, recycled, and lower-impact options where we can.

Better cotton initiative

We choose to use BCI cotton fabric for our apparel range. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global not-for-profit that exists to make cotton production better for the people who grow it, better for the environment it grows in, and better for the sector’s future. Its purpose is to promote more sustainable farming practices by training farmers to use water efficiently, care for soil health and biodiversity, reduce harmful chemicals, and respect workers’ rights and wellbeing. By supporting continuous improvement, BCI aims to transform cotton production worldwide—making it more responsible, traceable, and fair, while still meeting the demands of a growing global market.

Labelling

While our current apparel labels are made from polyester, we’re working towards transitioning to cotton labels by 2027.

Bio-based plastic

Our hair clips are made using Italian cellulose acetate—a durable, high-quality bio-plastic derived from plant fibres. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, cellulose acetate is biodegradable and produced in a lower-impact process, making it a more thoughtful choice for both people and planet.

The hair clips are stored in fabric bags that use deadstock fabric to further reduce waste.

FSC

Our supplier is FSC® certified, meaning the paper used in our affirmation cards comes from responsibly managed forests that meet the highest environmental and social standards. Choosing FSC materials helps support ethical forestry practices—and it’s one small way we’re reducing our impact while creating something meaningful.

Similar to other cards on the market, the paper is coated for durability. However, we are currently exploring options to transition to heavy-duty, fully recyclable cards.
